Welcome to Kansas City,
MO! We have selected the
Westin Crown Center Hotel to be our Headquarters. This is a five-star hotel with
36 specialty shops, 27 restaurants/lounges and Amtrak depot directly connected
to the hotel, all under one roof. Our itinerary will include the
National WWI
Museum
at Liberty Memorial, Hallmark
Cards
Visitors
Center and the Truman Library in
Historic Independence plus an authentic Midwest
barbeque lunch prepared especially for us. Because I received some early phone
calls expressing interest I expect this reunion to be very well attended so
please register early. I’m looking forward to seeing each of you in my hometown.

AIRPORT DETAILS: Proceed to the SuperShuttle service booth/kiosk located across
from each baggage claim area. There are three SuperShuttle locations in each
terminal: Terminal A - Gates 1, 15, 30; Terminal B – Gates 31, 50, 60; Terminal
C – Gates 61, 72, 80.
You must check in inside the airport and receive a
boarding pass and receipt; the dispatcher will assign a van. Cost is $18 one way
or $31 per person round trip. Wait time is no more than 25 minutes. Express
service is available at extra cost. Their local number is (816) 512-5590 or
(800) 258-3826. Return trips begin at 0440, run every ½ hour until 1810, and
advance reservation is required. Travel time is 45 minutes.
A special room rate of $99/night + tax is
good for three days
before/after the reunion. Automobile parking is available at moderate cost.
Registration cutoff date is 24 August. Please call the hotel directly at (816)
474-4400, ask for “in-house reservations,” and register early so we can better
serve you and your guests. If we don't occupy all the hotel rooms contracted
for, the Reunion Group has to absorb the cost.
Orville has arranged an economical
and historically interesting activity package for us in a central,
easy-to-navigate location. Peer into the history of WWI at Liberty Memorial.
Experience the eventful and triumphant life of America’s 33rd
President at the Harry Truman Library and Museum. Tour Independence Square and Hallmark Cards.
Share camaraderie, activities and scuttlebutt with shipmates, their families
and friends. This is a reunion you surely don’t want to miss!
Our business meeting
begins 0930 Saturday in the hospitality suite. We will hold elections and plan
for both the 2013 and 2014 reunions. Saturday evening will be devoted to the
social hour, no-host bar, banquet, raffle and entertainment.

Doran, Ship’s Store Operator, will have items for sale at the reunion or you may
order from him directly. Everything you need is included with this invitation.
