REUNION GROUP REPORT

July 2005

“Now hear this, now hear this…….set the special sea detail…..single up all lines….make preparations for getting underway. The Sproston Reunion group is setting course for Bloomington, MN.

SPROSTON REUNION 2005 –BLOOMINGTON MN– SEPTEMBER 21-25

This is the last call for Registration for Sproston Reunion 2005 in beautiful Minnesota. Iver Anderson, Doug Menikheim and Steve Krenz are finalizing all the details necessary to make this another memorable experience for all who attend. Thanks to all of you who have already sent in your registrations. Enclosed is all the information you need to complete your registrations and send it to our Treasurer, Elmer Everidge. We are looking forward to seeing many of you in Bloomington. As always, friends and relatives are welcome. “There are no strangers at Sproston Reunions”.  We can almost guarantee it will be a pleasant experience. RAFFLE PRIZES

At our Dinner/Dance on Saturday night, through the generosity of shipmates and friends, we always have gifts to raffle. If any of you care to donate items for the raffle, please let us know and bring them with you to the reunion. If you are not attending the Reunion and would like to donate a prize it would be appreciated. Let us know and thank-you very much.

We are pleased to report we have a new webmaster. Our new webmaster is Carol Landry. She is the wife of shipmate Ken Landry. Carol and Ken are working together to update and maintain the website. We have a new web page for our ship’s store. We are also posting the names of Reunion Registrants. The website has all the information concerning the 2005 Reunion….which we will continue to update. The site also has a downloadable Registration Form. Carol and Ken welcome any suggestions for enhancing the Sproston website.

SHIP’S STORE

Len Doran reports the Ship’s Store has received a number of orders. The following items are currently available:

Sproston Polo Shirts, Sproston logo caps, Navy regulation caps and Sproston patches

REUNION 2006

We are looking for recommendations and suggestions for next year. Any of you shipmates who have ideas or suggestions for our Reunion in 2006, please let us know. If you are willing to be Reunion Chairman, give us a call. It really helps if we have a longer time period to scout out potential reunion sites. This is your Reunion Group, get involved. We look forward to hearing from you. The By-laws Article V Sec. I states, Consecutive Reunions shall not be permitted in the same locality, i.e., North South East West. In 2005 we are in the North. The 2006 Reunion must be in the South East or West.

Since our last communication we have been notified of the passing of the following shipmates.

May they rest in Peace.

We hope to see many of you in Bloomington in September. Don’t postpone attending a Sproston Reunion.
