JULY 2000
The Sproston Crew is about to get underway for Reunion 2000. All lines are singled-up, the Special Sea Detail is manned and ready. Our destination is Rapid City, South Dakota and the ETA is 13 September, 2000 at 1200 hours. A number of our shipmates have signed up and we really appreciate the early registrations.
We know there are many of our shipmates who have postponed and procrastinated regarding attending a Sproston Reunion. This is the year. We can almost guarantee you, that if you join us in Rapid City, it will be an experience you will remember for a lifetime. Each Reunion is unique. As indicated in the attached Reunion Schedule, Chairman Bert Alexander, has some really great events planned. The best part, as always, is renewing old friendships and meeting and greeting our shipmates. The Sea Stories get better every year! We share a unique experience as Sproston Sailors.
Enclosed are the Reunion Schedule and the Reunion Registration Form. We encourage you to complete the Registration Form today and send it to John Halase as soon as possible. We are looking forward to seeing many Sproston sailors and friends in Rapid City. If you have any question or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
There are still many Sproston Sailors who are unaware of the Sproston Reunion Group. We need your assistance in locating these shipmates. Please help us find them. If you have addresses of former shipmates, send them a note or give them a call and invite them to join us. I'm sure they would appreciate hearing from a former shipmate.
At our banquet on Saturday night, through the generosity of shipmates, we always have gifts to raffle. If any of you care to donate items for the raffle, please let us know and bring them with you to the reunion. If you are not attending the Reunion and would like to donate a prize it would be appreciated. Let us know and thank-you very much.
Thanks to the efforts of Webmaster, Al Fitz, our new web site www.Sproston.com is up and running and has a lot of information concerning the ship, past reunions and the Rapid City Reunion. If you have any information, documents or pictures we can post on the web site, please send them to Al. We are also posting the names of reunion registrants as we receive them. Is your name there??
COMMUNICATIONS
The Reunion Group extends sincere congratulations to shipmate, Dr. Charles Holland for receiving a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from Texas A&M. The Award was given in recognition of his leadership, accomplishments, and contributions to the Chemical Engineering Program at the University.
We look forward to seeing many of you in Rapid City in September.
