REUNION SCHEDULE

USS SPROSTON DD/DDE577

2009 USS Sproston Reunion
Milwaukee, Wisconsin 16 - 20 September (Wednesday - Sunday)

Plans for the 2009 reunion in Milwaukee have been finalized. JJ Goodwin and Len Doran have worked diligently to ensure that you have a memorable time. To that end, I ask that each of you try to contact shipmates for whom we may not have an address and did not receive this notice. Please share this information with them so they might be able to attend.

We have booked the Best Western Milwaukee Hotel and Conference Center as our headquarters. They have offered us an attractive room rate of $79/night plus tax, including a full buffet breakfast each morning. Room rate is locked in for a couple of days before and after our reunion. Free shuttle service from MKE Airport and the Amtrak Depot is available by calling the hotel at (414) 769-2100. Fifty Wi-Fi equipped rooms have been set aside for us; only seven have been designated as “smoking” rooms so please book with the hotel early.

Download the Contact information is located both on the Registration Form and the Events Schedule; the hotel also has a useful website, http://www.bwmilwaukee.com/  Please submit your Registration Form and check to Orville Amos as soon as you can so we may better accommodate the group.

Len Doran, Ship’s Store Operator, advises me that only a limited number of the high quality embroidered shirts will be available at the reunion so order from him directly beforehand. Len can be reached at (920) 722-2414.

A special event for this reunion is a poolside/tailgate dinner party Wednesday evening. Interesting and accessible activities in the full package include tours of the Mitchell Park Botanical Conservatory, the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Museum, the Lakefront Micro Beer Brewery and a guided bus tour of Milwaukee. Thursday lunch at historic Joey Buona’s and Friday fish fry luncheon at historic Turner Hall Restaurant are included in the activity packages for those days. The Lake City Restaurant and Lounge is adjacent to the hotel and chain restaurants are located within one-half mile.
